Setting up a plain room

Basics

When it comes to a room, there’s one thing you put a lot of emphasis on: the light. If you have a dark room, the most beautiful furniture is of no use to you, as it can’t really set the scene. For this reason, the room with its window already brings a lot of light into the room and one is offered a great view of nature. Also, you can see a fireplace in the living room, which is integrated into the room. This directly provides a cozier atmosphere and it even replaces the TV in this picture. Thus, the room already brings good basic requirements for a simple room.

Rules

A plain room should not be filled with furniture, you need to choose only a few items. Of course, it is a special advantage if you can choose only one object, like the sofa here, and make it the center of the room. For the look, it is important that the walls remain largely free, so as to make the sofa or the lamp more prominent. The room also does not look overwhelming, as if there were a colorful wallpaper. We have a simple room through and through.

Textiles

Because plain rooms have few pieces of furniture only and the room as a whole should be cohesive, textiles give you the opportunity to add a little variety to the room. This sofa set in the center looks especially cozy in contrast to the honestly cool room. There are many cream-colored pillows, like the sofa, but also some with black and white patterns. They give the sofa more presence and go very well with the lamp. With a coarse knitted blanket and a rug that is also the color of the couch, the room gets more warmth.

Airy

It is tried to keep the upper half of the room airy light, that’s why no heavy hanging lamp is hung, but a white one that becomes one with the ceiling. The floor is also not cluttered with heavy things, so the couch is also on high feet to make it look lighter. Since you can see more of the floor this way, you have even more of an impression of a simple room. The coffee tables are also hard to spot because they are so delicate and with their copper color, they are hard to distinguish from the floor. The industrial style floor lamp has the same advantage with its long feet and fits in well.

Wall mural

In a plain room, pictures are not always necessary, but if you have a large white wall, then you can think about how to design it so that it does not attract too much attention but still adds value to the room. Here you have chosen a yellow color surface. Although it is the only colored surface in the room, it immediately makes it look completely different. Everything seems to shine in a warm light and the surface is particularly illuminated by the large window next to it. If you do not have a window in the room, you can also think about a yellow color design, it will give the room more brightness.

Heavy

Next to the staircase on a wall there is a small wooden table with a basket and a plant. Now, you might think that this ensemble doesn’t fit the room because it seems heavy on the floor unlike the rest. However, there is an important difference. The wooden stool stands directly against the wall and visually extends it, so that the table and plant belong to the wall instead of the room, which continues to seem to recede. The plant picks up the nature in the window and brings it into the house and the rattan surfaces create more texture.
